It is never too late to begin the process of repair for yourself or your child.
Do you ever find yourself working really hard to do the opposite of what your parents did?
Do you ever find yourself saying “Next time I won’t lose my cool.” only to find yourself triggered again by your child’s behavior?
Do you love to read parenting books and learn about child development but find the many different perspectives confusing?
In my counseling practice I really enjoy working with parents who desire to be present for their children and are curious about the impact of their own childhood experiences on their parenting, both in ways they are aware of and in ways they are not aware.
Parenting is not for the faint of heart. It involves so many intense conflicting emotions and experiences that influence our heartfelt desire to be present, attuned and loving toward our kids. If you are already a parent, or wanting to become a parent, I would love to work with you in coming to understand yourself and the influences on your parenting.
Presence is about self knowledge, honesty and most important, about compromise.
Self awareness if the key to balancing your needs with those of your child.
